Netflix‘s original series The Crown was a fan favorite for six series. The show, which focused on major events involving Britain’s royal family between 1947 and 2005, was a hit with critics as well, receiving 87 Emmy nominations with 21 wins and seven Golden Globes.
The series concluded in 2023, but for anyone who would love to see it revived for another run, you may be in luck. That’s because the streaming giant is reportedly in “advanced talks” with The Crown‘s creator, Peter Morgan, to develop a limited series centered on disgraced royal Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor.
This news comes after King Charles’ brother was arrested on Feb. 19 on “suspicion of misconduct in public office,” which is related to Andrew’s association with Jeffrey Epstein.“The events of last week are historic and unprecedented. There have been discussions for some time with Left Bank Pictures, which owns the rights to The Crown, for a series of one-off specials about royal scandals and dramas. The Crown, as a series, has ended, but the name will live on.”
If Netflix won’t do a series others streamers will, as there is reportedly interest in covering Andrew’s scandals and drama from Disney+ and Amazon Prime.
Following Andrew’s arrest, King Charles released a statement that read, “What now follows is the full, fair, and proper process by which this issue is investigated in the appropriate manner … Meanwhile, my family and I will continue in our duty and service to you all.”
