Princess Beatrice and Eugenie have been urged to drop their titles and “stop using them to make money” amid the latest bombshell revelations surrounding Jeffrey Epstein. Royal author Andrew Lownie, who wrote a deep-dive biography of the Princesses’ family, called Entitled: The Rise and Fall of the House of York, claimed they had been using the titles to capitalise on business opportunities.
While they are not working royals, they back several charities and liaise on business opportunities in the Middle East. Last year, around the time her father lost his prince title, Beatrice was pictured at an investment summit in Saudi Arabia, and she recently appeared in a promotional picture for a UAE bank.

This month, Princess Eugenie quietly resurfaced in the Middle East, stepping out for a work event in Qatar. The 35-year-old princess, a director at the contemporary art gallery Hauser & Wirth, was spotted attending Art Basel’s Qatar edition in Doha.
However, after further revelations involving their parents in the Epstein files, Lownie told The Express that it was now time for the princesses to remove their titles. He argued that they had been using their names to get one step ahead in business.
He said: “They should renounce their titles. That’s the first thing they should do because that’s why there is interest.
“She’s always Her Royal Highness Princess Beatrice when she’s doing things promoting businesses in the Middle East – that’s utilising her royal position. She’s really Mrs Mapelli Mozzi now, but if she were billed as that, no one would give a few minutes.”
He argued that using a royal title to get ahead was all too similar to what their parents had done, who appeared to have misused their position of power.

In the latest release of the Epstein files, Fergie appeared to ask Epstein for money after he had been convicted of child sex offences, while their father, Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, was arrested yesterday on suspicion of misconduct in public office.
He continued: “So they need to stop using their royal status in order to make money for themselves, which is exactly what their parents did.”
Lownie also questioned the motivation behind their charitable work.
He continued: “And I think we also need to look very carefully at some of the charities. Is this all about laundering their reputations, or is this a genuine desire to help? Are they being paid to do stuff?”
Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie are actively involved in various charitable causes, focusing on education, young people, and health.

Eugenie co-founded The Anti-Slavery Collective to fight human trafficking. Lownie previously called this a “preposterously inappropriate cause for [Eugenie] to be involved with” after emails suggested her parents were friends with a paedophile, and that Sarah had seemingly arranged a lunch with Epstein and her daughters.
However, it is worth noting that the alleged lunch would have happened when they were just 19 and 21. Royal journalist Victoria Murphy argued that it was understandable why they went along with it, and they were not to blame.
“It’s easy to be critical of that decision now that Epstein’s crimes are front and centre, but if no-one was raising any flags for them at the time you can see how they would just have gone on the trip their mother organised.”
The Express has contacted Kensington Palace for comment.
