As a self-proclaimed foodie, it’s no surprise that Meghan Markle seeks out top eateries. Long before marrying into the British royal family, she told Marie Claire, “I’m always on the quest to find amazing new restaurants” and that clearly hasn’t changed.

Since stepping back from royal duties and moving to California in 2020, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex have been seen out and about, hitting different places for dinner.
Back when she was working on Suits, which filmed in Canada, Meghan admitted to DuJour that she’d miss the food back home in California. “Toronto’s food scene is incredible, but what I start to miss about California is the familiarity of the restaurants. They might not be the trendiest, but it’s consistent good food that always brings back memories,” she said, also remarking in the interview: “I really pride myself on being the restaurant go-to girl.”
So, where does she dine? Continue reading for restaurants where the Sussexes have enjoyed date nights at in California…
Located in Beverly Hills, Funke has been a repeat spot for the Duke and Duchess. Meghan celebrated her 44th birthday at the restaurant, described as “a paean to regional Italian tradition,” in 2025. The As ever founder gave her Instagram followers a peek at the dinner, which she dubbed one of the “top five meals” of her life. In the caption, she wrote: “And just to get a little foodie on you…. this dinner last night at @funke_la with the culinary mastery of @evanfunke and his team is in the top five meals of my life. Extraordinary. Thank you for a standout dining experience.”
The couple returned to Funke by Chef Evan Funke in 2026 to kick off Valentine’s Day weekend. Meghan and Harry, looking like satisfied customers, were photographed leaving the restaurant following their meal.
The Dutchess
The Dutchess welcomed an actual Duchess and Duke in 2022 when Meghan and Harry visited the Burmese-Californian spot in Ojai. An onlooker later told HELLO! that the royal couple “came in just the two of them, and it was very impromptu, no reservations, very low key”.
“They loved the food – the naans are made in house, they take two days to make from scratch, in an imported Tandori oven. The chef even makes his own ghee. Everyone said they were really great, and they had a very pleasant time.”
The Dutchess, a bakery, cafe and restaurant, is touted as an “everything place” that “captures the spirit of the town’s farmers and artisans” and is “a love letter to food, creativity, and community”.

Leading up to their sixth wedding anniversary, the Duke and Duchess were spotted on a double date with Brian and Tracy Robbins at Lucky’s Montecito. Though it wasn’t the Sussexes’ first time at the upscale steakhouse. Months after moving to Santa Barbara in 2020, they were seen visiting Lucky’s with Katharine McPhee and David Foster in 2020, where they enjoyed a three-hour meal.
The restaurant, founded in 2000, offers American steaks, seafood and cocktails. Lucky’s, which refers to itself as “Montecito’s second living room,” was “born from a bold idea: to take a historic building once deemed ‘out of luck’ and give it new life”.
Days before her 42nd birthday in 2023, Meghan and Harry paid a visit to Tre Lune. The Duke and Duchess were accompanied to the Italian restaurant by their friend Matt Cohen. The manager at the restaurant told HELLO!: “They enjoyed their experience.”
Billed as “Like a Trip to Italy Without the Airfare,” Tre Lune in Montecito serves a “thoughtful menu that isn’t afraid of flavor, featuring memorable favorites.” That menu includes pizza, pastas, risotto, meat and fish.
