Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have removed their children from their respective schools just two days into the school year.
Prince Archie, 5, and Princess Lili, 3, were pulled out after the couple’s security team raised concerns, according to Hello! magazine, which was the first to report the news.
Harry and Meghan’s private security team reportedly flagged potential risks for their family, including heavy traffic near the school and the longer commute. Hello! also reported that one particular incident made it difficult for the family’s vehicles to travel together.
“The decision for the children to move school was taken following a discussion with the family’s security team about the practicalities of their current arrangements,” a Sussex spokesperson told HuffPost.
“The parents remain extremely grateful to all the teachers and staff for the love, care and effort they have shown their family,” the rep added. “This decision should in no way be interpreted as a reflection on the school or the exceptional care the children have received there.”
Harry has continually raised concerns over his security arrangements in the U.K. after he was stripped of government-funded police protection following his step back as a working royal.
He has challenged the decision through the courts and said that the setup leaves both him and his family open to incredible risks.
“I can’t see a world in which I would bring my wife and children back to the U.K. at this point,” the prince told the BBC in May 2025 while the family resided in the United States.
The couple has since relocated to the U.K.
Because they are now living in Britain, The Telegraph reports that the Royal and VIP Executive Committee (RAVEC) will conduct new official risk assessments for the couple.
