e Prince and Princess of Wales are set to hit the red carpet in London in just one week – and they’ll reunite with an A-list actor.
Prince William and Kate will attend the world premiere of Digger, which highlights the dangers of an environmental disaster, at the Odeon cinema in Leicester Square on 22 September.Â

They will reunite with cast member Tom Cruise, with whom they previously walked the carpet at the screening of Top Gun: Maverick in 2022.
The Princess looked so glamorous in her off-shoulder Roland Mouret gown, with Tom gallantly offering her a helping hand as she climbed up some steps.

As well as meeting the Mission: Impossiblestar, the couple will be welcomed by filmmaker Alejandro G. Iñárritu and senior representatives from the Film and TV Charity.
William, who is president of BAFTA, is passionate about championing the British cinema industry, and Digger was filmed at Pinewood Studios in the UK.Â
Prince William and Tom Cruise’s unexpected bromance
Hollywood royalty Tom Cruise has struck up an unexpected friendship with the Prince of Wales over the years.
For example, when William was asked about his favourite film at the 2026 BAFTA Film Awards back in February, he said: “I’ve got to be careful because I’m a little biased to a particular person. But Top Gun 2, for instance, is one of the most incredible films I’ve watched in a long time.”

Even the royals’ children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis, are fans of Tom’s stunts in the action flick. “For me and watching with my children, they absolutely adore it,” he added.
Back in 2022, Tom treated William and Kate to an advance screening of the Top Gun sequel before the film came out. William, who is a trained helicopter pilot, is a fan of the original 1986 movie.
More recently, Tom has supported London’s Air Ambulance charity, of which William is patron, as well as the Prince’s Earthshot Prize awards. He called the royal a “dear friend” in a surprise video appearance for the 2025 ceremony in Rio.
Prince William and Kate’s most recent red carpet appearances
The Prince and Princess of Wales most recently walked the red carpet at the BAFTA awards back in February.
Kate, 44, wore a stunning two-tone gown from Gucci, paired with a black belt.

Prior to that, the couple was seen at the Royal Variety Performance last November, and the BAFTA awards in 2023.
Famously, in 2021, they joined Charles and Camilla as the guests of honour at the premiere of James Bond: No Time to Die, with the Princess wearing a glittering gold gown by Jenny Packham.

In 2024, the Princess underwent chemotherapy treatment for cancer and was largely absent from public engagements before making a slow and steady return to public duties.
In January 2025, she announced she was in remission from cancer. Last week, the royal mother of three returned to the Royal Marsden in London, where she underwent treatment.
